Insects

Insects are among my favourite subject to capture. I have a fabulously overgrown garden, and I often go for a slow walk with my camera to see what I can find hiding in the tall grass, or sitting on a flower or plant. 'Bee Drinking Water' happened because I saw a bunch of bees on the ground around a small shallow pool of water. Curious, I sat down carefully with my camera near the bees, waited for them to settle down again, and looked through my macro lens. What I saw amazed me; it looked like they were drinking the water! I told the bees to ignore me, I wasn't going to hurt them, as I leaned in and carefully took some shots. I had bees flying around me and landing on me but I stayed still, letting them know it was ok, they were safe. After I finished shooting, I did some googling and found out that bees did indeed drink water! Since then, I made sure there was some water in a shallow bowl with some rocks in it that they could use to stand on and drink from.
